Ovulation Induction

Conceiving naturally can be challenging when ovulation is irregular or unpredictable. Ovulation induction is a safe and effective treatment that uses medication to help regulate ovulation, giving you a better chance of becoming pregnant.

What Is Ovulation?

Ovulation is the release of an egg from your ovaries, usually occurring around 14 days before your next period. The days leading up to ovulation, along with the day of ovulation itself, make up your fertile window, the time when you’re most likely to conceive.

However, for many women with irregular or absent periods, tracking ovulation or confirming that it’s even happening can be difficult. That’s where ovulation induction can help.

Who Is Ovulation Induction For?

Ovulation induction may be recommended if you:

  • Have irregular, infrequent, or absent menstrual cycles
  • Are not ovulating on your own
  • Have unexplained infertility
  • Have a partner with low sperm count or poor sperm motility

If you’re unsure whether ovulation is occurring regularly, our fertility specialists can assess your hormone levels and menstrual patterns to determine if ovulation induction is right for you.

How Ovulation Induction Works

Ovulation induction is often one of the first steps in fertility treatment. It is minimally invasive and can be done in the comfort of your own home with expert guidance.

1. Stimulation

You’ll take either:

Oral medication (usually for 5 days starting on Day 2 or 3 of your menstrual cycle), or Hormone injections (daily for 8 to 14 days, starting around Day 3).We’ll guide you through the process and ensure you feel confident with your treatment plan.

2. Monitoring

Throughout your cycle, we’ll monitor your progress through:

  • Ultrasounds to track follicle growth
  • Blood tests to check hormone levels

This helps us identify the best time for conception.

3. Ovulation

In many cases, ovulation happens naturally. If not, we’ll use a trigger injection to prompt egg release mimicking your body’s natural hormonal surge.

4. Fertilisation

We recommend having intercourse every 1–2 days during your fertile window. In some cases, artificial insemination (IUI) may be used to place sperm directly into the uterus.

5. Pregnancy Testing

About two weeks after your fertile window, we’ll perform a Blood test to determine if you’re pregnant.

What If It Doesn’t Work Right Away?

It’s completely normal for conception to take time even with treatment. If ovulation induction doesn’t lead to pregnancy in the first few cycles, don’t lose hope. Our team is here to support you, reassess, and explore further options if needed.
